Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi Constituency, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah is leading the production of 10,000 face masks for his constituents as part of measures to limit the spread of COVID-19.
The move comes after the Ministry of Health directed that every Ghanaian is expected to wear a nose mask when stepping out of their homes to prevent contracting the disease which is mainly transmitted through respiratory droplets between people who are in close contact with one another, within about 6 feet.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, May 7, 2020, after a visit to the constituency, the MP, who doubles as Information Minister wrote, βIn Ofoase Ayirebi we are producing 10,000 face masks for distribution among our constituents. Yesterday, DCE Paul Asamoah and I visited the seamstresses commissioned to do this. I was excited to observe the energy with which they are delivering on their numbers.β
